Integrity
Directional Services has been blessed
during our first year of business. We
decided to give back to our community in the form of scholarships
to help young people pay for their college education. We devised
an essay competition whereby students would compete for prize money
to be dedicated to higher education. The
topic for the essay was “Integrity” and how a special
person has made an impact on their life. (Click
here to see complete rules, regulations and definitions) Benbrook
Elementary was chosen to participate since it was a local school and
very close to our company headquarters. Mrs. Shelly Anderson,
Benbrook Elementary Principal, was a pleasure to work with. We
thank her and Benbrook Elementary for the help and support provided. Thirty
Eight fifth grade students submitted essays for the scholarship
competition. Here
are the results of our inaugural competition:
Baylee Gunnlaugsson took second place with a cash award of $500. Baylee wrote an essay about her older brother Ty. Baylee is also a fine young lady and says her older brother Ty has set a good example for her to follow. We know they will both be successful in life and we wish them both the best. She has two other siblings, Kim and Mike. Baylee loves to write and hopes to be a photojournalist when she grows up. She is currently undecided about which university she would like to attend. Congratulations Baylee!
We plan to make this an annual competition and will alternate between schools and/or provide scholarship money to multiple schools. If you or your company/organization would like to partner with us that would be greatly appreciated. After all, our young people hold the future to this country, so there is nothing more important.
